Terms of Use

Last updated: 7 August 2026

The agreement

Petalum is an iOS app that helps you keep track of watering and caring for your plants. By downloading or using it you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

Petalum is made by Makio. Contact: support@makio.app.

Premium purchase

Petalum is free to use, with a limit on how many plants you can track. Petalum Premium is a one-time purchase, not a subscription. It removes that limit and does not renew or recur.

The purchase is handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. Prices are shown in your local currency before you confirm, and payment is charged to your Apple Account. Your purchase is tied to that account, so you can restore it on your other devices, or after reinstalling, using Restore Purchases in Settings.

Refunds are handled by Apple, not by us. Requests go through reportaproblem.apple.com. If Apple refunds a purchase, Premium features stop being available.

Care advice is guidance, not instruction

Petalum includes a catalogue of common houseplants with suggested watering intervals, light and humidity preferences, and a symptom checker that ranks likely causes using your own care history.

These are starting points, not prescriptions. How much water a plant needs depends on its pot, its soil, the light in your home and how dry the air is. Petalum cannot see your plant. Treat every suggestion as a prompt to go and look at it yourself, and use your own judgement.

The catalogue also flags plants that are commonly reported as toxic to pets. That information is provided for convenience and is not veterinary or medical advice. If you think a person or animal has eaten part of a plant, contact a doctor or vet.

Your data and your reminders

Your plants, photos and care history are yours. They are stored on your device and, if you have iCloud enabled, in your own private iCloud account. We cannot read them. See the Privacy Policy for what leaves your device and why.

Reminders are local notifications scheduled by iOS. They depend on your notification settings, your device being on, and iOS choosing to deliver them. Petalum cannot guarantee that a reminder arrives at an exact moment, so please do not rely on it as the only thing keeping a plant alive.

Reasonable use

Please do not attempt to reverse engineer the app, work around the Premium purchase, or redistribute the app or its content as your own. The app, its name, its logo and its catalogue content remain ours.

Liability, honestly stated

Petalum is provided as it is. We work to keep it accurate and reliable, but we cannot promise it will be free of bugs, that reminders will always arrive, or that a plant will thrive.

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for the loss of a plant, for lost data, or for other indirect losses arising from using the app. Nothing here limits rights you have under mandatory consumer law in your country, including your statutory rights as a consumer in the EU.

Changes

These terms may change as the app changes. The date at the top shows when they were last updated. Significant changes will be noted in the app or on this page. Continuing to use Petalum after a change means you accept the updated terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by Italian law. If you are a consumer, you keep the right to bring proceedings in the courts of your own country of residence.
