Privacy Policy

The short version
We have no server and no account system. We cannot see your plants, your photos or your care history. There is no tracking, no advertising and no analytics in Petalum.
Two things do leave your device, both only to Apple and both only to make the app work. They are set out below.
What stays on your device
Your plants, their photos, watering history, growth notes, rooms and holiday plans are stored locally on your iPhone. Reminders are local notifications scheduled by iOS; nothing is sent anywhere to deliver them.
If you enable iCloud, that data also syncs to your own private iCloud account, under your Apple Account. It is not sent to us and we have no way to read it. You can export a full backup, or erase everything, from Settings inside the app.
Location, for the weather
If you allow location access, Petalum asks Apple’s WeatherKit for the forecast where you are, so it can tell you when rain might save you a watering and when heat means your outdoor plants need more.
Your coordinates are sent to Apple to answer that request. We do not store them, log them or transmit them anywhere else, and they are never tied to an identity. Location is optional: refuse it and the rest of the app works exactly the same, only without weather suggestions.
Weather data is provided by Weather.
Photos and camera
Photos you attach to a plant are read from your photo library or taken with the camera, and are stored with that plant. They stay on your device and in your own iCloud. They are never uploaded to us. Petalum does not read your photo library beyond the images you choose.
The Premium purchase
Petalum Premium is a one-time purchase handled entirely by Apple. Payment happens through the App Store; we never see your payment details. The app only asks Apple whether the purchase exists, so it knows whether to unlock. See the Terms of Use.
No tracking, and no children’s data
Petalum contains no advertising identifiers, no third-party SDKs and no analytics. Nothing you do in the app is used for tracking across apps or websites.
Petalum is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect anything from them. Since there is no account and no server, we hold no personal data about anyone.
Your rights
Because your data never reaches us, requests to access, correct or delete it are things you carry out yourself, on your device: export a backup or erase all data from Settings, and manage or delete the iCloud copy from your Apple Account settings.
If you have a question we have not answered here, write to support@makio.app and we will answer it properly.
Usage statistics
We collect anonymous statistics about how these pages are used, with our own system hosted on our own servers (a.makio.app). We record the page visited, the referring site, device type, browser, operating system, country and interactions (clicks, on-site searches, time on page). We do notuse cookies for this and we do not store your IP address: it is turned into a code that changes every day and differs per site, so you cannot be recognised over time nor linked across sites. No profiling, no sharing, no selling. The data is deleted automatically after 400 days.
This site can also use Google Analytics, a third-party service that sets cookies and sends data to Google. It is not loaded unless you accept it: if you decline, or simply ignore the banner, no request is ever made to Google. You can change your mind at any time from the Cookie settings link in the footer.
Changes
If a future version of Petalum handles data differently, this page will be updated before that version ships, and the date at the top will change.
This policy applies to the Petalum app for iOS and to this website.
